Hammons Employment Leadership Program (HELP) is growing the work force of the Coastal Bend by placing junior and senior high school students, disabled students and those in the Juvenile Justice Center in lucrative careers with local employers.
We have introduced over 4000 students to the job of their dreams through HELP’s programs. Careers we have explored with local employers include:
From framing crews to electricians, opportunity in the construction trades abounds as the Corpus Christi area grows. Labor is in short supply, and our local employers are hiring and training our students with summer internships and upon graduation.
Major oil and gas and industrial employers in the Coastal Bend are interested in employing our students as soon as they graduate. Positions available in the oilfield range from fabrication to welding, heavy equipment operators to pipeline Professionals. These positions are high-paying jobs.
Radiology technicians, Licensed Practical Nurses, physical therapists and more are in high demand. HELP has exposed hundreds of students to careers in the medical field. Our scholarship program helps students fund additional training programs.
Firefighters, Police, EMTs are critical to the safety of our community. HELP takes students to the action, into the heart of the Police Department, to the Fire Academy and more so students can experience firsthand what a day as a First Responder is like.
U.S. Coast Guard, Army, Navy, Air Force and Marines. Protecting and serving our nation is the most honorable career a student can choose. HELP brings students to the U.S. Coast Guard Corpus Christi Harbor Facility to experience the daily duties of Coast Guard personnel, and sit in the cockpit of a military airplane.

Employers:

Employers support the mission of HELP because HELP is providing their future workforce. Through HELP’s programs, students can view a potential career through Field Trip videos on this website, sign up to visit the employer’s job site, and gain knowledge from employer mentors in their chosen field by visits from these professionals to their schools.

Additionally, HELP places students in summer internships and awards scholarships to students who must obtain training from Del Mar College, The Craft Center, and other vocational and technical schools. Build your future labor pool, become one of our Employer Sponsors!

One of the first students we worked with in 2009, Avner was a young man who had had several brushes with the law by the time he found us. He was most impressed to find that someone cared about his future. Avner found his niche in heating and air conditioning, and is now owner of South Texas Comfort Control.
